The project integrated different design elements like, the streamlining, grey glass partitions and the color used which successfully created a dynamic design office with minimalistic and scientific atmosphere which match with the client’s business and his team. Ninety-degree angles are avoided in an attempt to produce a dynamic, perceptually larger environment. Also, the open sea-view along with the L-shaped work desk help to make the office feels like locating in an uninhabited island which is peaceful and timeless.
“Air-craft: Rendezvous” is an art window display that LAAB designed for Hermès at TaipeiTaoyuan Airport. Upstaging the beautiful scene from Jimmy Liao’s “Turn Left, Turn Right”, we break the convention that uses mannequins to display clothings. Instead, we used digital fabrication technique to create aerodynamic curves to portray body figures, and together with Hermès products, produced the scenes where the protagonists turn left and right with luggage in hands, and reunite at the “Air-craft”.
To echo with this year exhibition’s theme “Hard Cinema”, we converted the exhibition spaces which aimed at discovering the alternative dimensions in cinema in terms of physicality, materiality and spatiality. Bringing the visitors an immersive experience traversing into and through the internal mechanics of a filming device along the exhibition space.
Upon entering the cinema, audiences’ eyes would meet with the various-shaped and three dimensional boxes. Black and white engulfs the perimeter, conveying a hint of futuristic and muti－dimensional feeling appears in science fiction movies. Rectangular-shaped concessions and kiosk inclined with assorted angles, camouflaging themselves in the furturistic background, which triggers the association of meteors in space or the second element of psychedelic space.
The coffee bar located inside a cinema with a theme of ‘stop motion’. Every film composes of thousands of stop motions. This continuation of frames produces the illusion of a moving image, freeing our minds to see what is within and beyond. The designers freeze and extract these ‘motion fragments’, embedding the elements within the cinema perimeter.
HEX-SYS is a reconfigurable and reusable building system OPEN Architecture designed. This modular building system can be easily disassembled and reused, thus extending a building’s life cycle and preventing huge waste of resources. Also by being modular and largely prefabricated, it can be built much faster than traditional buildings. The composition of the hexagon cells can be rearranged according to different site and programmatic needs.
A youth camp and a cultural activity center for locals, open and flexible event spaces adapt to the ever-changing program, creating a kaleidoscope like mini-world. Facing the gently sloped central courtyard, 6-meter tall folding doors slide open, allowing a small new-media theater to instantly transform itself into a large performing space.
As a seed of “Jiangnan”, the design of company gives birth to gardens, streets, bridges and rivers, and everything begins to grow. Just like His Design Creative Building, having stories along with.
The designer tried to use the western design technique to embody the oriental artistic conception. The case applied the modern simple design language , abandoned the extra decoration, with the main color of black, white and grey, the natural materials and plain design craft. It aimed at balancing the office using functions and the art aesthetics in order to let people in such arts space work joyfully.
To maximize the use of the exhibition area, the construction of the exhibition hall to make processing, diversified use.
