1.2km of recycled paper is used for remembering the past of this once important historical site of papermaking- Chung Hsing Paper Factory. It is a celebration of what was once here, and to bring back memories to the neighborhood, allowing the paper to once again come to life, this time not as a plane, but a space that can be experienced and interacted.
Happier Café redefines the idea of community as a shared, ever-growing project. The design wanted to have a life in the community beyond its exhibition time. Using the customer’s interaction to physically alter the space inverts the typical interactive experience.
The former Taipei Railway workshop has been made into an observatory to the site and the process of its conversion. Not only, but also an exhibition and a spatial experience were installed finally creating a meeting point between the heritage site and the public space of the city.

Taiwan is a mountainous island, with diverse climates ranging from sparse tips of high altitude mountains to ecological hotspots of coastal wetlands.
The overflowing faint red light from the box of memory raises the vision to 3000 meters high, gazing at the mountains as visitors walk counter-clockwise, presenting a birds-eye view of the land of Taiwan.
The exhibition gathered designers and artists across disciplines to explore the idea of uniting local industry with the concepts of the circular economy. Visitors could readjust their opinions toward traditional craftsmanship and appreciate the beauty embedded in glass. The event also hoped to embed glass manufacturing into the Hsinchu identity.
