Introduction of Selected WorksThe Degas Special Exhibition, which is organized by the Asian Museum of Modern Art of Asia University, presents 74 sculptures, which include the ‘Little Dancer, Aged Fourteen’, along with other authentic oil paintings. This is the first international exhibition held in Taiwan of the great master of the Impressionist.
Triangle plain concrete stands were exclusively made for this exhibition in order to correspond to the architectural element of regular triangle of Asian Museum of Modern Art. The movements of ‘Ballet Dancer’, ‘Horses and Horse Racing’ and ‘Female Bodies’ are highlighted through the black frames made of wrought steel wires. In addition, a combination of lighting with the natural light creates an effect as if the ‘Little Dancer, Aged Fourteen’ is just about to go on stage. The material of the exhibition space accentuates the efficacy of retranslation. The transparent glass used in this exhibition with the introductory words of the exhibition, stands as the barrier of separation and connection, dividing the layer of space throughout the exhibition area and creating a perfect Atmosphere with the exposed concrete architecture of Tadao Ando.
