Butterfly is a 2-in-1 aircraft seat that is instantly transformable between 1 business class flatbed suite & 2 premium economy seats, enabling airlines to adjust cabin configuration on a flight by flight basis.
Demand is never predictable- premium traffic ratio constantly fluctuates, and while longer flights require flatbeds to compete, short flights need higher density to be economical. These lead to wasted space, unfulfilled demand as well as under-utilized fleet, which is neither efficient nor environmentally friendly.
Butterfly addresses this problem with flexibility: each Butterfly unit is composed of two recliner seats in a staggered arrangement. Folding the inboard seat down creates a private business class suite for one passenger complete with a seat and a side couch, while folding down the outboard seat as well forms a spacious bed to lie flat diagonally.
Butterfly’s unique layout gives travellers new ways to enjoy a flight. For solo travellers, the offset between seats increases separation & distance from others. For those flying with loved ones, the side couch can be offered as a bed for kids or as a guest seat, and the bed is wide enough even for a couple to share.
