Brief

Curate and design an original exhibition that coincides with Kaohsiung city’s hosting of the Asia-Pacific Cities Summit in 2013.
Design Approach & Philosophy

CREATIVE©ITIES aims to create a creative platform that connects and inspires creators from Kaohsiung and Asia-Pacific to collaborate and exchange ideas. It introduces other cities’ creative scene and creators to the people of Kaohsiung and celebrate the cultural diversity and exciting emergence of the Asia-Pacific creative scene through fun, interactive, informative, enjoyable and accessible exhibition.
CREATIVE©ITIES creates a platform that can be expanded to include different cities, and also showcased in the form of events and other media after the first exhibition — much like the Asia-Pacific Cities Summit.
To create a giant social community network of creators across cities that can inspire collaboration and exchange of ideas. This network will continue to grow and contribute to the project in other ways.

Well use of the environment design and space planning to create a unique exhibition experience that engages the audience with an interactive and friendly approach. An original curatorial approach to the presentation of the cultural diversity of the 10 cities and its creators.
Interesting and innovative way of visual storytelling and infographics.
Well use of technology to create and develop content for a show that was limited in budget and time. The projectis expansive and has continued to grow through various media and medium.

Critically acclaimed by the local and international press, with massive coverage on the national newspaper as well as features from international press such as Monocle, Wallpaper and CNN.
Attracted a lot of international audience to visit Kaohsiung.
Connected Singaporean creators to the international creative community. Showcased the Pier2 Art Center as an emerging art area in the region.
Built connections between Kaohsiung and the other 9 cities.
Through the exhibition, the Kaohsiung audience understand and celebrates the cultural diversity and exciting emergence of the Asia-Pacific creative scene.
Challenges

Managing the content of the exhibition that includes hundreds of works from the creators.
Allocating and managing the big space that was given.
Limited time and budget. Production that is economical and time efficient.
