Exuberant growth of plants, especially near the stem, can have the leaves and branches stick out and shield off much of the water, making it bothersome to water your plants sometimes. Normally, the root system of a plant spreads evenly about 2 to 3 cm beneath the soil surface. By encircling the flowerpot with a tray 3 cm below the top, and connecting it to six evenly-spread water holders where the tray and the roots meet, the water that is poured on the tray will seep into the soil along the water holders. Simply pouring water onto the tray ensures that your plants receive all the water they need. The tray can also be used as a handle that makes it easier to carry the flowerpot.
