The bottle design of the Kinmen Kaoliang liquor not only features the region’s war culture and local, environment-friendly materials, but also integrates Eastern and Western elements of design. Sealed with cork made of Kinmen’s driftwood, the bottle’s shape is inspired by ceramic wine bottle seen in the Jing Dynasty that has a narrow neck and wide closure, which makes the liquor easy to pour and less volatile. The innovative leather texture at the neck, the bulging base and the stamp on the leather are inspired by the unique “horseback gable”, which is an important architecture element of Kinmen’s traditional settlement. The double-layered glass not only shows the crystal clear liquid, but also looks like the cross-section of a mortar shell. The box, when placed side-by-side in three, displays a full picture of traditional Kinmen settlement. Once the wine is finished, you can easily get the leather cover off and reuse it for other cups or bottles.
