This project has breathed new lives into the characteristics and charms of this historical place, and retained the rich historical links that is unique in this part of Asia. It demonstrates a refreshing adaptive reuse approach, creating a contemporary living environment that is appropriate to an urban setting, and responds to the climate. It rekindles the communal spirit of yesteryears – the days of living in a community where homes were interconnected social spaces, and where the rituals of everyday life were enriched by architecture. It offers an attractive appeal that caters for the vast rapidly-changing lifestyles of most Asian countries.
