Millet, a grain seen in all Taiwan’s indigenous tribes, is deemed a gift from God. For the package of our millet products, we integrate in our design the cultural totems of the island’s 16 tribes seen in worshiping rites, on artifacts, headpiece, hair accessories and clothes. For our millet cookies, the tribes’ common cultural signs for hunting, millet and food container is presented in a linear design. For the millet cakes, indigenous greeting phrases (such as “have you eaten?”) are written in Roman alphabets in red, white and black, which are commonly used across the tribes. With the design, we hope to make the indigenous people’s cultural symbols known to the world.
