A letter is the simplest way to transcend time and space, as it can preserve the present moments and emotions. In the ever-changing urban development, the National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center (HURC) attempted to gather the collective memories of the residents and the neighborhood. Therefore, together with the Jiaxing Street Government-led Urban Regeneration’s residents, we published "As City's Hippocampus - Opening the Memory of Home, Writing the Culture of Jiaxing Street," aiming to use tangible objects to fully record the living memories of the community before the city enters the next chapter.

The design of this book creatively stacks pages of different sizes to mimic the atmosphere of entering common walk-up apartments on Jiaxing Street. With transparent and folding pages, it offers a surprising urban exploration experience. The visual style is also drawn from the vibrant and diverse street scenes, and collaging the appearance of the neighborhood.

Breaking away from the conventional image of government publications, both the content and design uphold the spirit of social design. With "opening" as its core theme, it invites readers to open up neighborhoods, memories, and barriers, ranging from familiar daily scenes to the deepest emotional recollections. We believe that this is not just a book, but the key to a "time travel" for the residents of Jiaxing Street.
