While Kobe beef is world-famous, its leather has long been forgotten, as its skin is thin and tough, every year, up to 500 Kobe cows are discarded. We wanted to find a way to bring back the beauty of it.
Working with ‘Kobe Leather Cooperative’, we developed an expandable form inspired by the Taiwanese lantern structure. We also developed a way for leather to have waterproofing capability, allowing for outdoor furniture use. Finally, Sustainability was always on our minds, down to packaging with
