Taipei, heavily impacted by the urban heat island effect, has seen changes in how people use outdoor public spaces. Studio Superficial installed hundreds of recycled aluminums “pore-like” cooling devices in the TFAM plaza. Using a grid system and mist, the installation creates a microclimate that regulates temperature and humidity. This temporary structure reactivated the plaza, inviting people to return and reimagine the potential of outdoor public space during the intense summer heat.
