Chang Yu-sheng had a short but spectacular life. With many hit songs and versatile music styles, he is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding vocalists in the Mandarin-speaking world. His influences also stretch across generations and many creative artists in Taiwan.

The exhibition theme “FLY ME TO THE MOON & BACK” combines two of his classics with temporal and spatial dimensions. The exhibition creates an experience as we follow astronaut Chang Yu-sheng to the moon. The circular viewing route separates the curation into two areas that represent the earth and the moon. From the materials to the lighting, and sound content of the overall curation reflect the dual qualities of Chang’s creativity and the exhibition theme. It is both an informative and emotional experience, inviting visitors to join this lunar landing plan and walk into Chang’s imaginative music universe from the past to the future.

In this musical journey, we present field studies, interviews, and research to introduce Chang’s charisma and achievements. The exhibition centers on the essence of pop music: “listening,” and emphasizes auditory experiences. Five contemporary musicians are invited to reinterpret his music for current and next generations. With the power of music, we are able to fly across time and space, even to the moon and back.
