2026 Golden Pin Design Award Jury Lineup Announced, Bringing Together Experts from 14 Regions to Select the Year’s Outstanding Designs

The 2026 Golden Pin Design Award and Golden Pin Concept Design Award today officially announced the jury lineup. This year, the two awards bring together experts from 14 countries and regions, including Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Spain.
The lineup features leading designers, scholars, and industry professionals. Many jurors from Europe, North America, and across Asia also bring extensive experience in Asian markets, brand development, manufacturing ecosystems, and regional design exchange, reflecting the Golden Pin Design Award’s position as an international platform rooted in Asia.
The jury further includes experienced design media professionals, representatives from major retail channels, business strategy experts, and representatives of international design organizations. Through diverse perspectives and practical industry experience, the awards aim to recognize outstanding designs with innovation, market potential, and contemporary significance.
The Final Selection Jury Highlights
For the final selection of this year’s Golden Pin Design Award, the Product Design category will welcome German industrial designer Dirk Schumann. As a long-standing consultant in product and strategic design, Schumann has worked across a wide range of fields, including industrial, medical, and communications technology products. He has also established a branch office in Xiamen, giving him deep insight into Asian brand development, manufacturing ecosystems, and market contexts.
Antony Lo, former CEO of Giant Group, will also serve on this year’s jury. Lo played a key role in building the GIANT brand and extended product thinking across R&D, manufacturing, branding, retail channels, services, and the promotion of cycling culture. A leading figure in the internationalization of Taiwanese brands, he has received honors including the DFA Design Leadership Award and the BPSA Lifetime Achievement Award.
For the Communication Design category, the Golden Pin Design Award has once again invited Siam Attariya, a key figure in Thailand’s graphic design scene, to serve on the jury. One of the driving forces behind the founding of the Thai Graphic Designers Association (ThaiGa), Siam is also among the first Thai designers to be inducted into AGI. Known for transforming everyday culture, humor, and shared public experiences into highly communicative visual language, he has earned a strong reputation across the Asian design community through numerous iconic works.
The Communication Design category will also include Shogo Kishino, Creative Director of Japan’s 6D-K, who is known for his work in graphic design, packaging, signage systems, and brand identity. His practice spans both brand and public-sector projects, and has received international recognition including the D&AD Yellow Pencil, Cannes Lions Gold, and ADC Awards. Kishino has also served on juries for awards such as D&AD and JAGDA, and has taught at leading institutions including Tokyo Polytechnic University, bringing together extensive design practice and research experience.
For the Spatial Design category, this year’s jury will include renowned Korean architect Minsuk Cho, founder of Mass Studies. His major works include the Korea Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai, the Osulloc Tea Museum on Jeju Island, and Space K Seoul. In 2024, he was invited to design the Serpentine Pavilion in London. Cho has also been named an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, and in spring 2026, he served as the Kenzo Tange Visiting Critic in Architecture at Harvard GSD, reflecting the strong international recognition of his professional achievements.
The Integration Design category will include Japanese urban designer Yuki Uchida. As Director of the social innovation organization Re and the design studio Futurama, Uchida has long supported cities and local communities in driving transformation. In 2017, she was appointed by Japan’s Cabinet Office as an expert advisor for regional revitalization, and in recent years, she has also been actively involved in Circular Design Praxis, which connects circular design practices across the Asia-Pacific region. A juror for the Good Design Award since 2020, Uchida has also twice served on the secondary selection jury of the Golden Pin Design Award. This year, she will join the final selection jury, bringing professional perspectives from the angles of industry and social impact.
The Secondary Selection Jury Highlights
The secondary selection jury is also composed of strong industry figures. In the Product Design category, the jury will include German product designer and design strategy expert Michael Lanz. Formerly Managing Director of designaffairs Group, Lanz has also been involved in the iF DESIGN AWARD Sustainability Working Group in recent years, bringing an integrated perspective that combines product development, design strategy, and sustainability.
For the Communication Design category, the jury has invited Yoshiaki Osada, Chairman of GK Design Shanghai and a Japanese design expert specializing in urban environments and visual communication. Based in Shanghai for many years, Osada has led design practice while also teaching at several universities. He has served on juries for the Design Intelligence Award (DIA), the Golden Reed International Industrial Design Award, and the Better Design Award, and has long contributed to design exchange between China and Japan.
For the Spatial Design category, the secondary selection jury will include Tung Ching Yew, Founder and Managing Director of Singapore-based SODA®. With more than 25 years of experience in design consultancy, Tung has served as President of the Society of Interior Designers Singapore (SIDS) and Curator of the 2025 World Design Summit. He is committed to promoting cross-disciplinary dialogue and advancing the role of design in social innovation and industrial development.
For the Integration Design category, the jury will include Lawrence Chong, Co-founder and Group CEO of the leading creative consultancy Consulus. He previously served as Founding President of the Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS) and Secretary-General of the World Design Business Organization (WDBO). With extensive experience in applying design thinking to help international companies drive organizational transformation and reshape business models, Chong will bring cross-disciplinary perspectives that combine business strategy, organizational innovation, and social impact to the selection process.
Across Academia, Industry, and Global Practice
Across the three selection stages, this year’s jury brings together leading figures from academia, industry, and professional practice.
They include C. David Tseng, University Chair Professor of the Department of Architecture at National Cheng Kung University; Shu-Chang Kung, Professor at the Graduate Institute of Architecture, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University; Chungwei Su, Principal of JJP Architects & Planners; Celeste Ting, the first Chairperson of the Taiwan Creative Content Agency; Peter Chen, Vice President of Lifestyle Merchandising Division at Far Eastern Department Stores; Hsiang Han Hsu, Founder and Design Director of HSIANG HAN DESIGN; Kuo Chung Yuan, Creative Director of Midroom LAB; Lin Kunying, Creative Director of LUXURY LOGI CO.; and Hsuan-Wu Wei, Associate Vice President of ASUSTek Computer Inc.
The lineup also features Ningning Li, a renowned designer who led Xiaomi’s design team to win more than 100 major international design awards; IDr Lai Siew Hong, a leading Malaysian interior designer and former President of the Asia Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA); Jay Lim, Creative Director of TSUBAKI STUDIO; Denys Lapointe, Chief Design Officer of Canadian recreational vehicle brand BRP; German interior architect Susanne Brandherm, who has long been engaged in design education and children’s social projects; Jiang Zhenwei, Managing Director of Artop Design Group; innovation consultant Charles Johnson, who has shaped product strategies for global brands including Adidas and Puma; and Czech graphic designer Tomáš Machek, former Vice President of the Brno Biennale of Graphic Design. Together, these experts will select the year’s most representative outstanding works.
Global Design Organizations and Regional Perspectives
This year’s jury also brings together representatives from a number of international organizations.
They include Makiko Tsumura, Director of the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) and President-Elect of the World Design Organization (WDO); Yoo Yoon Ho, Vice President of the Korea Federation of Design Associations (KFDA); Lee Minhyoung, President of the Korea Ensemble Contemporary Design (KECD) Association; Philhyun Kang, President of Design Council Busan; Jaehan Jin, President of the Gangwon Institute of Design Promotion (GIDP); Pichit Virankabutra, Deputy Director of Thailand’s Creative Economy Agency (CEA); Astrid Stavro, President of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD); Lin Yen-Ying, President of the Asia Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA); and Xavi Calvo, former CEO of World Design Capital Valencia 2022 and current Director of Design Foundation of the Region of Valencia.
Through perspectives spanning industrial policy, regional design promotion, and international exchange, these jurors will bring a broader global outlook to the selection process.
Media, Creativity, and Market Perspectives
The jury also includes a number of leading design media professionals and creative figures. They include Bettina Schulz, a renowned German design journalist who served for 18 years as Editor-in-Chief of novum—World of Graphic Design, one of the world’s leading graphic design magazines; Giant Kung, Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy Taiwan; Blues To, Editor-in-Chief of Tatler Taiwan, a leading luxury lifestyle media brand; Eric Chiu, Founder of the Taiwanese lifestyle media platform EVERYDAY OBJECT; Liu Chin-Ju, BU Head of Shopping Design; and Hu Shi-En, Editor-in-Chief of 500 Times.
Drawing on perspectives across contemporary lifestyle, public communication, and market insight, these jurors will help identify outstanding works with commercial potential and social resonance.
Upcoming Selection Schedule and Awards Ceremony
Entries for the 2026 Golden Pin Design Award and Golden Pin Concept Design Award closed in mid-June, with preliminary selection results to be announced soon.
The secondary and final selections of the Golden Pin Design Award will take place on August 21 (Fri.) and August 26 (Wed.), respectively, at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei. The final selection of the Golden Pin Concept Design Award will be held on July 28 (Tue.), during which shortlisted participants will have the opportunity to present their concepts in person to the jury.
The winners of the year’s highest honors will be officially announced at the awards ceremony in Taipei at the end of November. Stay tuned for further updates.
